The Marco Island Shell Club is a friendly and dedicated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization for shell enthusiasts at all levels of interest and expertise. Our mission is to promote the study, conservation, history, and science of seashells and mollusks, and to encourage shell-related interests, such as shell collecting, crafting, and shell art. The Club season, which begins in early November and continues through March of the next year, includes weekly shell art workshops. The projects completed at workshops become the property of the club and are sold to raise money for scholarships and grants. Seminars, varied excursions, and the end-of-year celebration and annual meeting at the end of March round out the season.
An integral part of the mission of the Marco Island Shell Club, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is to "promote the study, conservation, science, history, and appreciation of seashells and mollusks in all their forms..." The Club depends upon the proceeds from the sale of member-produced shell art to underwrite scholarships, grants, and educational programs.
