Seminar on “The Shifting Sands in Time” presented by Dr. Jeffrey Schmid
Loggerhead Sea Turtles are symbols of resilience and adaptability. Dr. Schmid will share his research on turtle nests and lessons we have learned from sea turtles.
The seminar will be held at the Marco Island Library
Tigertail Walk with Marge
Join Marge Tunnell on a low tide following a full moon walk at Tigertail Beach. Marge has an extensive knowledge of the sea life found on Tigertail, and she will be discussing our finds during the walk. At low tide, many shells have animals inside; Marge will unlock the secrets of these fascinating creatures. We will meet at 7:00am at an area to be determined.

Raquel Herrera with the Rookery Bay Reserve will present “The Discovery of Rookery Bay”. The presentation will cover the history of Rookery Bay Research Reserve including how it was founded as well as the education and conservation programs in the 110,000 acre Reserve. Free to the public.

Excursion to Keewaydin at Low Tide
Join us for an Excursion to Keewaydin Island on the Hemingway Shuttle at low tide following a full moon. We have twenty seats reserved to sail at 6:45am and return at noon. The price is $52.00; please pay by check and be aware that it is non-refundable. Your spot is not reserved until payment is received following registration for the event. We always have a great time on Keewaydin and expect the twenty slots to go quickly!
The recommended arrival time is 6:00 am as boarding is at 6:15 am. Departure is 6:30 am sharp. Because this excursion is scheduled and seat commitments made well in advance, no refunds will be issued. Please be aware that the Shuttle runs on a tight schedule and will depart promptly at 6:30 am and cannot wait for late arrivals.

Marine Biologist, Rebecca Mensch, MS will be giving a talk about the True Tulip at the Marco Island Library. From 2017 to 2022, Rebecca raised a True Tulip at the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum from hatching until its unfortunate demise in Hurricane Ian. Rebecca will share notes, observations, photographs and videos of this extraordinary snail. Free to the public.
